See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. Matthew 18:10
We would often see a man and a teenage girl having a cuppa on our way to work. Though I don’t have the chance to be acquainted with them, I can tell they are a father and daughter pair.
I saw the girl walking with a former colleague in the home support work profession one day. So, that confirms that the teenager has a disability.
Having worked as a home support worker, I admire the love and compassion parents and family members give for their special children.
True, there are hardships and struggles along the way. Nevertheless, the conviction that this is a divine role for their kid always prevails.
Thus, the verse in Matthew 18:10 comes to mind:
See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. Matthew 18:10
We learn from Jesus’ words that children have angels in heaven who always see the face of God the Father in Heaven.
Therefore, by not despising “one of these little ones,” we connect with our Father in heaven.
Human as I am, I have my imperfections, the same as Paul expressed in Romans 7:14-25.
Therefore, I don’t have the right to despise “one of these little ones” if they don’t come up to what the world calls “normal.”
Like Paul, I thank God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Praying for all of us parents who are committed to bringing out the best from our children no matter what.
May the love of God in Jesus Christ encourage us to love and honour the children more.
