Doing Process Monitoring Research in Antique and Iloilo, Philippines

In 1992, I had the chance to work with Institute of Philippine Culture as Research Assistant.

I did process monitoring research on the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) of the Philippine Government.

I was assigned in Antique province together with five other research assistants.

Part of my job was to record how land surveys were being conducted.

CARP lands are located in remote mountain slope areas. Documenting the surveying process was so hard.

The photo on the right was taken by the community organizer.

We were at Barangay Igpanolong, Sibalom, Antique.

Notice the high elevation and the slope. I was hanging on grasses and some vegetation.

The site was also patrolled by some members of the New People’s Army.

I did research in Antique for eight months then I was assigned for a year to document the implementation of the Local Government Code in Janiuay, Iloilo.

The process monitoring research job entailed lots of recording minutes of meetings, collating notes, and writing monthly reports.

It honed my research and writing skills.

I thank the Lord for protecting me through all these tasks.
